Culture.
The traveller that arrives in Garachico will encounter the convents created by the Franciscan, Dominican and Conception nuns. The parochial church and the Castle of San Miguel; with its tea balconies and the sombre vestibules of its sun houses, are outstanding, as are the narrow stoned streets, that resist the asphalt and cement of the great cities.
Among the local celebrations the most outstanding are those on the last Sunday of August, that of the Christ of Mercy, every 5 years, with an important cultural activity. The Festvity of San Roque and The Traditions. Its pilgrimage, the 16 th of August, is an interesting manifestation of folklore, in which the saint is accompanied to his temple.
